Apple's CNC machine can't print a less-than character, and the Apple Store isn't sanitizing it's data input properly. wheee!
I bought my partner an iPod Nano. On the back, I wanted to have an engraving that said
kallen <3 emily
Here's what the Apple's UI showed when I tried:
You're kidding Apple! That blows. So wise-ass me tried using the HTML encoding for the less-than character:
I do that, and hit the continue button. The UI doesn't complain, and it still shows as HTML encoding:
Then I hit the check out button, and now, in the cart, it shows up as a heart! <3 <3 <3
So maybe I'll receive it that way! Bad bad bad web developers. Sanitize your data input, and update the CNC machine into the 21st century. What? Is it running Windows 3.1? :D
Alas, when I received the nano, it was printed with the HTML encoding representation of the less-than 3.

Sigh. I called Apple, and they said they can't support the less-than character, and they don't know how it ended up printing the way it did, even though in their system it indeed shows up as <3. No, I didn't tell them I used HTML encoding. BAHAHAHA. (FIX IT JORDAN!! :D )
